Gurten Observatory: A journey through the night sky

How are shooting stars formed? How did the solar system come into being? The observatory on the Gurten offers all astronomy enthusiasts a detailed insight into physical and other scientific phenomena in space. Every Tuesday evening, Observatory visits take place under the professional guidance of Astro Events. The various celestial events are explained in an understandable way and can be observed with a telescope.

A visit to the observatory is also worthwhile several times a year: Since the Earth rotates and orbits the Sun, different galactic phenomena are visible in every season:

January: Mars and Jupiter return to the winter night sky
February: Planetary parade: Mars is close to Earth, and Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus are visible
March: The duo of Mars and Jupiter dominates the evening sky
August: Perseid meteor shower
September: The Milky Way and its treasures are visible
October: Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune in the fall sky
November: Leonid meteor shower
December: Geminid meteor shower

The number of visitors is limited to 20 people per evening and advance registration is required. Observatory visits are conducted in German.

Comments	The event will take place regardless of the weather. In case of bad weather, an alternative program will be held in a seminar room. The meeting point remains the observatory, even in bad weather.
